The city requires permits and approvals for the following items not regulated by the state building code. No person shall conduct building construction or related activities for the following without having first submitted a permit application to the building department and having been issued an approved permit:

(1) Fences greater than seven feet in height.

(2) Retaining walls greater than four feet in height measured from the bottom of the footing to the top of the wall, and for retaining walls supporting ascending slopes exceeding 3:1 or a nonsoil surcharge.

(3) Exterior tanks not attached to or supported by a regulated building.

(4) Flagpoles greater than 25 feet in height when not attached to or supported by a regulated building.

(5) Fixed docks, piers, and wharves without a superstructure.

City permits required by this section shall be processed in the same manner as other permits required by the state building code. Permit fees shall be based on valuation using the current adopted fee schedule for building permits. (Ord. 2057 § 1, 2022)
